SoSAFE! Workshop

Course Description

Do you support learners who struggle to understand social boundaries or enter relationships too quickly? These are common concerns for educators, therapists, and caregivers working with individuals with learning difficulties or autism.

The SoSAFE! Programme is a visual teaching tool that helps learners understand and manage different types of relationships—from interactions with strangers to close connections.

Using a standardised framework of concepts, symbols, and visual materials, SoSAFE! teaches the appropriate level of communicative and physical touch for each relationship type. It empowers learners to make informed decisions based on clear rules rather than feelings, helping them recognise unsafe situations and report potential harm.

This one-day workshop introduces the SoSAFE! framework and its rationale, equipping participants with the tools to teach relationships, in a structured, accessible way. The programme is especially effective for individuals with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and/or autism, promoting consistency, safety, and independence across settings.
