Supporting Multilingual Learners Across the Curriculum
Course Description
This workshop is structured in two parts: a 1-hour asynchronous module completed at your own pace, followed by an engaging 3-hour in-person session. Designed to build your confidence as a content and language teacher, the workshop invites you to challenge common myths about multilingual learners (MLLs), identify barriers to access, and apply practical tools and strategies to embed language scaffolds across subject areas—supporting all learners more effectively.
Learning Outcome
Apply scaffolding strategies to address barriers that impact equitable access to content for MLLs, supporting language development across language domains: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Design a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that fosters engagement, equity, and a sense of belonging for students of all language backgrounds.
Reflect on current practices and integrate language development with subject content, ensuring multilingual learners are fully supported in achieving academic success.
